About Us

Started in 2020 by Michael and Erin Joppa in Rochester, Minnesota, Sweet Local Honey Co is dedicated to helping save the bees. After learning how bees are facing an uphill battle against disease and pesticides we decided to pitch in to help. We started with a pollinator garden, and researched how to get into the beekeeping trade. We fell in love with beekeeping after tasting our first honey crop in 2021. The taste was like nothing we had ever had before. The honey was simply excellent. Beekeeping is a lot like taking college level course and our personal journey of learning is never complete. We take immense pride in caring for our bees. Our personal goal is to raise bees in a healthy, sustainable way. We care more more about keeping healthy happy bees than a large honey crop. Fortunately, healthy bees do tend to be great honey producers. We truly hope you enjoy the honey being sold here. I have a feeling you will love it.
